Plane crashes in Iran leaving 66 dead

After several hours of searching, the remains of the ATR 72 aircraft have been found.

An ATR 72-500 plane and EP-ATS registration, belonging to Aseman Airlines, crashed on Sunday in the vicinity of Dengezlu, a city in the Province of Isfahan, in northern Iran.

The aircraft disappeared from the radar about 50 minutes after takeoff from Tehran International Airport Mehrabad (THR), bound for Yassuj Airport (YES), operating flight 3704.

The 66 people on board, 60 passengers and 6 crew (2 pilots, 2 flight attendants and 2 security personnel), were considered dead.

After several hours of search that included helicopters and several rescue teams, the remains were found today.

The authorities are investigating the causes of the tragedy.
