Iaşi airport reaches the record of 1 million passengers

The Romanian airport maintains its growth year after year and in 2018 inaugurates flights to Dubai.

Located in northern Romania and very close to the border with Moldova, Iaşi International Airport (IAS) has marked an increase in passengers, reaching the record 1,000,000 passengers so far this year. A great achievement taking into account that in 2012 it only had 176,000 passengers.

Many factors helped the success of the airport, including the opening of a new runway on August 21, 2014 and the launch of new options in destinations: in 2016 Blue Air launched 3 routes and Wizz Air opened a base at the airport adding 5 routes .

Last year 881,157 passengers passed through its facilities and it is estimated that by the end of 2017 the figure will reach 1,150,000, which would mean an increase of approximately 40% compared to 2016 and 215% compared to 2015.

Currently the routes with the best flight options from this airport are: Iaşi-Bucharest, operated by Blue Air and TAROM; Iaşi-London Luton, operated by Blue Air, TAROM and Wizz Air; and the Iaşi-Cluj Napoca and Iaşi-Timişoara routes, both operated by Blue Air.

Another positive point for the Iaşi Airport will be the launch of flights to Dubai with the airline FlyDubai, which will start flying twice a week in 2018.

The graph published by the airport shows the growth curve since 2012.
