The two airlines signed today an agreement to improve tourism and economic ties.
The Japanese airline Japan Airlines and the Mexican Aeromexico from today have a codeshare agreement. The same applies to flights between the cities of Tokyo and Mexico that Aeromexico is already operating, as well as stops between Japan and Mexico and other destinations in Asia.
Compact was motivated largely by the growth of Japanese companies in Mexico, primarily automotive, as well as tourism trips.
In 2006, Aeromexico launched its flights to Tokyo via Tijuana with two weekly frequencies, being the first airline of Latin America with direct flights to Asia; Thanks to the good numbers of occupation, in March of this year, the airline began to fly the route daily.
Meanwhile, Japan Airlines offers flights to 8 Mexican cities via Los Angeles or Dallas-Fort Worth through code sharing with other airlines. The figure will rise to 12 thanks to the new agreement with aeromexico between Tokyo-Narita (NRT) and Mexico (MEX), as well as on routes that connect Los Angeles with other Mexican cities through its home network.
Both airlines will work together to improve the passenger experience including access to Vip lounges in airports and mileage accrual.
Is expected that the codeshare agreement between Japan Airlines and Aeromexico improve the link between the both countries, increase the options for passengers, and help increase tourism and the economy between Mexico and Japan.
