The first airline in United States in receive the Airbus A350.
Airbus has delivered to Delta Air Lines the first of its 25 Airbus A350 – 900 aircraft bought by Northwest Airlines before it was absorbed by Delta. Delta will receive in total 5 of these aircraft in 2017.
Delta will operate with the A350 mainly on their routes to Asia, in October. The first long-haul flight is scheduled for the 30th of that month between Detroit and Tokyo Narita; Meanwhile on November 16th, the airline will start to fly the route Detroit-Seoul and on January 17th, 2018, from Detroit to Beijing. Prior to these flights, Delta will use the A350 on routes within the United States.
The 5 first aircraft A350 will have 32 seats in business class (Delta One for the airline), 48 in premium class (Delta Premium Select) and 226 in economy class. The A350 will be the first aircraft of Delta to incorporate the new cabin economy Premium seats from 19 inches wide, 38 of separation and 7 inches of recline and the new closed business booths.
