American Airlines will remove its Dash 8-100s aircraft

The airplanes will leave service in November.

American Airlines announced that it will withdraw the Bombardier Dash 8-100 from its regional fleet in November.

The last service of a Dash 8-100 will be operated by the Piedmont Airlines subsidiary in a scheduled flight between Philadelphia and Salisbury, Maryland, on November 29, ending 32 years of service in the regional fleet of American Eagle and the predecessors US Airways Express and Piedmont Commuter.

The regional airline will replace the Dash 8-100 with the Embraer ERJ-145, of 50 seats. It currently has 26 Embraer, and plans to reach 36 by the end of the year.

Some Dash 8-100 will remain as spare parts until the Dash 8 fleet is completely removed. Meanwhile, the Dash 8-300 of Piedmont fleet it will keep in service until the summer of 2018.
