Airplane slams into home in Philippines leaving ten dead

The accident happened yesterday in the municipality of Plaridel, 35 kilometers from Manila, Philippines. Five people on board the plane and five on the ground died.

Yesterday at 11:21 in the morning local time, the municipality of Plaridel, in the Metropolitan Area of Manila, was hit by the tragedy. A small plane Piper PA-23 Apache twin-engine and registration Rp-C299, operated by Lite Air Express, crashed into a house.

The five occupants of the aircraft plus five people who lived in the house died. Two other people who were in the vicinity, a woman and her grandson, were burned and had to be taken to the hospital where they recover.

The aircraft departed from the Plaridel Airport. Moments later it hit a tree and an electric pole to then lose control and hit the house in a residential area, just when its occupants were having lunch.

On board the small plane were a pilot, a chief mechanic and three passengers. Meanwhile the deceased in the house were a lady of 80 years, her daughter and three grandchildren.

The Philippine Civil Aviation Authority is now investigating the causes of the tragedy, while also ordered to keep all the airplanes of Lite Air Express airline on the ground.
