Airbus A380 of Lufthansa returns to Frankfurt due to loss of engine oil

The plane was flying from the German city to Houston yesterday and suffered a leak in one of its engines.

An Airbus A380-800 aircraft and registration D-AIMF belonging to Lufthansa, was operating the LH-440 flight between Frankfurt International Airport (FRA), in Germany, and Houston Intercontinental Airport (IAH), in the United States, on December 1.

When the aircraft was flying over the Atlantic Ocean about 550 nautical miles (1,020 kilometers) west of Shannon, Ireland, the pilots noticed an oil leak in engine number two, which is why they decided to return to the city of Frankfurt.

After about 15 minutes of flight over the ocean burning fuel, the Airbus A380 returned to Germany, landing without problems in Frankfurt about 3 hours after the start of the return.
